On our Malaysia education system, it is in fact a very worrying situation. Few of my friends who managed to find a foreign partner or fellow Malaysian with foreign PR status, all have decided not to send their children into our local schools. All of them are not happy with the education system.

I must admit that if I have the option, I would not send my children into our local schools. Our system over emphasizes "spoon feeding" method. Our system mainly teaches the children to be submissive. Our system does not encourage a child thinking process.

Also, I was told by someone that the current school syllabus contains many Islamic elements than those in the 70s and 80s. If this is true, this is a very worrying factor to the non-Muslim community in this country.

Then, there is the problem of deteriorating quality standard of national schools, and over workload for children attending Chinese schools.

Sometimes children have more pressure than us, being an adult. They loss their childhood wonder years. We can go for a holiday when we get burnt out. But children have to bring along their homework, if they are going for year-end holiday.

The current system of education in Malaysia and the attendant political interference is like a time bomb. Our ministry of education is paralysed to effect any meaningful and positive changes to rectify the sorry state it is in.

Who will suffer ultimately but a whole new generation of young Malaysians who are like the proverbial sacrificial lambs on the altar of political expediency?

Already we are seeing the present generation of "unemployable" graduates emerging from our universities, all a result of the nationalistic syllabus.

If we carry on like this for another 10/20 years, can you imagine the sort of people running our country in the future? If our present crops of ministers are an embarrassment to our country, dare we imagine what the future situation will be like?

It is time for those malay politicians to wake up to the reality that our education system has failed to produce the right employable graduates for our job market. Too much emphasis on race factors has turned our education system into another malay affirmative apparatus at the expense of quality education to produce the needed human resources for our country

We are human and we have a higher level of intelligence than many others. If you cannot get employment, then change to something else. Be flexible and treat everything as knowledge. Is that so difficult?

By the way, jobs are a plenty and people are just being choosy. The young generation nowadays is just way too pampered! Wake up and see the world!

If we observe the educational backgrounds of those most zealous Umno leaders who now champions of the 'national' education system, we cannot fail to find that most of them are not products of the system they claim to be the best for 'national integration', 'national unity' and what not.

If they themselves have no confidence in the local or so-called 'national' education system, why do they insist that it is the best for the children and grandchildren of ordinary Malaysians?

Have we forgotten the slogan of 'leadership by example'?

It is sad that mother language education should yet again, be victimised by our ethnic politicians. That Chinese and Tamil medium primary schools are in short supply is patent.

Despite the government lavish spending on national schools and its zealous denial of vernacular education's contribution to national progress, both Chinese and Tamil schools still thrive.

Given this circumstance - and the fact that the right to mother language education is enshrined in our constitution - the government present education policy is both myopic and undemocratic.

Even if we ban all vernacular schools in the country, it will not mean that national integration will be achieved. Students would not integrate if they feel they are being denied equal chance to universities or government assistance.

We are tax-paying citizens and it is our right to demand for more schools of our choice. We as parents want to have a say in how we educate our children.

But please don't stop us from choosing what is best for our children. This is something that is very sensitive to the Chinese community and I hope that just as the sensitivities of the malays must be respected, the same would go for the Chinese and Indian communities in Malaysia.

The recent Umno assembly has seen the rearing of many ugly heads. It is no wonder why Newsweek magazine labeled Umno as 'a seething snake pit'.

There was a glorious display of damning, hissing, swearing, and unsheathing of the keris against imaginary enemies.

The fact that Badawi his people have taken upon themselves to demonstrate such extremism, reflects not only gross immaturity, but hatred for all non-malays.

These Umno-malays have shown their true colours. Non-malays have always suspected this and the recent theatrics have confirmed it. There is no room for love from any non-malay.

A poor bumi will always be a poor bumi. Unlikely to be in the company of the Umno-malays who have grabbed all the wealth from you. See for yourself when they pass by in their voluptuous Mercedes.

Strong words have been spoken at the Umno meet which are difficult to obliterate. All that is ugly in Umno has been exhibited with no holds barred - bias, bigotry, discrimination and hatred.

To get ahead in the world today, China has taken steps to encourage its citizens to master English and the Chinese are taking it like fish to water. Likewise, the Americans have no choice but to master Mandarin.

Bill Gates and Steven Jobs have already said that the first wave of the Internet language is almost over, i.e. English. It is time to prepare for the second wave, Mandarin.

And what do we have here? Still hanging on to the notion that Bahasa Melayu is the lingua franca of the world even as events are unfolding before their very eyes that thousands upon thousands of graduates could not get employed because of their inability to grasp the English language.

Where is the pragmatism for change? Even the hardcore communists like the Chinese have to finally gave in, swallow their pride and do what is best for the nation. Today, they call the shots and America has to kowtow to them. China does not need a military adventure but an economic one will do just fine. From the looks of it, our people here will never go for a change. The mathematics and science in English is nothing more than a cosmetic change.

It is a funny world we live in. The Americans and British are falling over each other to master Mandarin, and the Chinese are learning English at a rapid pace. And here what are we doing? Learning Our Bahasa Melayu. Good luck Malaysians. Won't be long we will all be left behind.

Our politicians think there is something to gain from making racial and religious statements at the great expense of Malaysia and its ordinary people.

Sadly, they are right and have been very successful to achieve their narrow, personal and selfish aims. Enormous damage has been done to the social cohesion and progress and development of the country. It is so sorry to see them lagging further and further behind as a result of their inferiority complex. It is more sorry to see that they can trade the future of this country with their inferiority complex.

What is their definition of patriotism? What is morality? What is integrity? What is……….

Generations have been brought up with this totally unacceptable and unhealthy environment. It would take generations to resolve and heal this damage.

This bumis/non-bumis dichotomy is a well-entrenched policy which is here to stay for a long long time and eventually lead the country to ruin.

Face it, the easy part of it can be done is removing the legal discrimination, the damage is so overdone now, it may take forever to change the cultural discrimination that has been infused.

Having said that, money has to be spent on education. Only with world-class education and grasp of the global world can we have better ties with other countries. This will invariably lead to more business opportunities and a robust knowledge based economy.

Let us not forget the Chinese community is in fact helping many malay students who are presently studying in Chinese medium schools!

These schools are funded by the Chinese and no one can dispute the fact that when it comes to donation towards education, the malays can never match up to the Chinese.

The latter donate millions of ringgit each year for their mother tongue education.

Exodus of Malaysian professionals simply means outflow of monetary capital as well as human capital.

The winners of this scenario are the smart countries like Singapore, Australia and the US. By maintaining the good governance of the country, making it safe, clean and having equal opportunity for all to develop their potential to the fullest, they are able to skim off the cream of our country in terms of skill peoples, professionals and the capital.

Not every person could emigrate; the host country would pick and choose to ensure these emigrants are useful for them; unfortunately more often than not, these people are usually wealth creators or productive peoples who are actually badly needed by our own country.

Once these people are already out, it would be very difficult to get them back simply because we no longer could afford to get them back. These people include non-malays and malays simply for economics reason.

The economics force seeks to its own equilibrium like water flows to a lower point and man tries to go to the highest point. All the money, legal or illegal flow to this heaven perceived to be safe and the nearest one is Singapore.

Though there is ample of land in Australia, yet the property prices shoot rocket high because it is perceived as one of the few safe places in the world that one's generation could live well.

That makes the cost of migration heavy this day. The earlier one could migrate the better he would be. After all, the ringgit is shrinking day by day. In that sense, we already lose points in this competitive globalize market in securing useful productive people.

For an individual migrant, he is also a winner. Take an example of a family of three kids which emigrated to Australia in 1990. The price of the property has gone up five to six times. At the end of the day, the family has gained:

1. The children are PR automatically and enjoy equal employment opportunity with the Aussies in an income of 1:10 ratio compared to their counterparts in Malaysia.

2. Saving over a million ringgit in education fees over the three kids who are now professionals trained up by the Aussie land.

3. No doubt income tax is high, but one is guaranteed with unemployment benefit, medical and educational facility just in case.

Economics reasons dictate everything and forget about the patriotism. Just don't make people laugh!

We had sometime ago this Malaysia politician caught in the Brisbane carrying bags full of millions money trying to snatch properties there, and one prominent lady politician also was (not sure is still is) PR of Australia.

These so-called leaders are actually busy striping off country assets and busily shipping them to places like Singapore or Australia. They don't really care for the people but their own pockets, and when this is challenge by the people, the racial card is frequently produced to shut the people up.

How many times we have been threaten by the saying of the infamous keris wielding, May 13 and disturbance of hornet nest!

At least the emigrants and their descendents are earning honest money and contributing national building, to their host countries simply because they are grateful to them. They don't waste time in arguing how to divide a shrinking cake like in Bodohland.

To those who are qualified to emigrate, the destiny is at your own hand, make your choice. It is entirely your own right to seek a better place for you and your family in this world.

Someone is right.

Every good statistician will tell you that Najis statistics are flawed.

Najis is not comparing apple with apple. He is not using weighted statistic (based on population and income) for comparison.

With one race from larger population, it is bound to have the statistics stretched, thereby lowering the value. Therefore you will get one orange comparing with apple. But with weighted comparison, only then you are comparing on equal terms.

Najis doesn't tell the whole story. He is just inciting emotions with flawed facts. Wonder what was his motive? You guess is as good as mine.

The NEP was - and is - doomed to failure because it was designed not to be accountable for its implementation. The NEP is a policy where the means justify the end. That is the reason for the use of the quota system.

If the NEP was truly meant to be implemented correctly, the use of quotas would not have been strictly adhered to.

Administrators would then be forced to use other means like handicaps to help those in need. Bumi students would be given grade handicaps while bumi businessmen would be given easier terms for business opportunities for instance. The NEP is not a real affirmative action as understood in developed countries such as the US.

The fact of the matter is that the NEP will fail because those who control it see it as an opportunity for power and wealth. It will fail because it is impossible to separate its altruism and abuse. In fact, that is generally true of all protectionist policies, which is why they do not work.

Those who believe that the NEP uplifted their lot should be careful of the context of this because they do not really know what the outcome would have been should the NEP not have been implemented. Singapore has not only narrowed the income gap between races but has done so despite having an environment that discriminates against malays.

The achievement of the malays in Singapore are real but in Malaysia, except for a few, we do not really know where most bumis stand in the competitive world. We would know better if we did not have quotas and moved to a handicap system instead. However, Umno does not want this for it will have to be accountable and measured every day, every month, every year and every four years.

There is nothing to suggest that most bumis would not have done better without the NEP. Singapore is just one example. I know of numerous bumis in the West that have achieved much in a competitive system.

There is no reason to believe that those who benefitted from the NEP would not have benefitted from a meritocractic policy (with handicaps) that encourages and supports them to measure and better themselves everyday.

Typical Mahathir. He thinks this country belongs to his father and others have no claim or right to decide the future direction which the country has to take its course.

No doubt about it that Mahathir has done a lot of good things for Malaysia, putting Malaysia in the world map with a recalcitrant prime minister. But on the other hand Mahathir also has done a lot of damage to the country, by undermining justice.

Unfortunately Pak Lah has not shown any other initiative and not walked the talk on transparency and fight against corruption.

Now is the time to show some guts and vision. We live in hope.

The duty of the current prime minister and the ruling party is to conceive and implement polices and programs which are solely for the benefit of the country and the people.

Half-baked policies and policies conceived by Mahahtir to benefit family members and cronies should be discarded. He betrayed the trust entrusted by most ignorant and naive malays who allow him to rule the country for a good 22 years.

His lop-sided polices conceived and implemented purportedly to improve the lot of the malays, only benefited his family members and fellow cronies.

Slowly and surely, Mahahtir is being wounded. He is a sick man, really, mentally. That is why he talks about people being ungrateful to him, when it is the belief of every Muslim that whatever good or bad things that happen to you is godly sent, and predestined.

But it is the will of God and it is predestined that the country has a stupid and naive prime minister. And with God's will and blessing, this could also be changed if the people show more courage.

Most right-thinking Malaysians will agree that Mahathir had made some great contributions to our country.

Unfortunately, you Mahathir had betrayed the trust of Malaysians who voted for you by abusing your power to suit your crooked agenda and caused destruction to many of our institutions.

We are now waiting for Pak Lah to expose more of how you had betrayed Malaysians with all your crooked projects, prejudice, administration, etc.

God is great! Now we see God is showing what is the truth……….

The only method BN can stay in power is to keep the nation stupid, uninformed and struggling to put food on their tables.

If the nation is stupid, then they will ask less questions. Unable to think logically and systematically, everything that the BN force feed to the nation will just be taken at face value. BN says that malays should be given more help.

If the nation is uninformed, then BN will have less to worry about stealing their money and telling a totally different story of how they are helping them get better. Take a million, donate a thousand.

If nation is struggling to put food on the table, the less time they have to care about the decapitated political condition in the country. So BN can just continue to marginalize every single person who is not a malay.

So why talk about them not reaching their promised goal of being first world when it is not their goal since day one. Everyone here knows what their goal is. We know that their promises are as empty as their heads.

What they want is to get as much money as possible and stash them in some other country because sooner or later, the ringgit will be worthless. Maybe cheaper than rupiah.

We will have to see if that really happens after the next election.
